Employer cancelled health insurance without notice and I have type 1 diabetes

I’ve been working with my current employer since early 2020. I became a remote employee at my company in December 2021 when I moved from CA to WA. A few weeks after my official remote start date I was sent an email to re enroll in my health benefits, but was surprised that they were exactly the same as my CA benefits. I called HR and was told this would be fixed. A couple weeks later I got another re enrollment either, but still my benefits were not updated. I called HR again but this time was told my benefits would not be changing and would still work in WA state. So I started seeing a PCP here and have been waiting for 3 months to see a specialist for my type 1 diabetes. Flash forward to 2/25/22 and I get ANOTHER email asking me to re enroll. I thought it was an error so I didn’t open it until today, 3/1, and found that now my benefits are completely different with a new insurance carrier. I called HR and was told that my CA benefits expired on 2/1/22 and that if I enrolled today in my new benefits I would become an active member by this Monday. Problem is that 1. I’ve been seeing other doctors in the last month and will definitely now be getting out of pocket bills for these visits and 2. I have this VERY important diabetes doctors appt this Thursday I’ve been waiting for MONTHS for and now I’m apparently uninsured even though I’m still working full time and have not changed companies. I told my boss I would not work until I had active insurance as this is part of my compensation but was told it would come out of my PTO bank. I’m so scared and angry and have no idea what to do. I need my insulin and diabetes supplies but it will be so expensive out of pocket. I was never given an option to enroll in cobra to prevent a gap in coverage. Please help!!!
