Employer Provided Insurance

My employer asked us late last year to fill out a paper asking if we would be interested in Insurance at no cost to us. Most of us jumped at the chance and of course the answer was yes.
The beginning of the year comes around and we all get Insurance info , our plans for medical, dental and vision and it’s pretty decent coverage. So we are now enrolled in Insurance provided by our company with no premium.
A week goes by and they start calling us telling us the cost was too high and we need to pay a portion. Specifically about $50 a week. No documentation or info and after given the coverage. Is this ethical or even legal ?

I’m fully aware that if I don’t agree to pay the percentage they can just cancel my coverage.
