I really need a surgery, but my insurance claims the surgery is “investigational” despite full FDA approval of involved devices, and denied coverage. There are no other good fits for my specific medical needs. And some other states BCBS covers it, like Illinois, but NCBCBS does not. I’m trying to get an appeal going but I have never done this before. What do you do? Is there a chance of winning an appeal with NCBCBS when their written policy apparently states they won’t cover it? My surgeons insurance person seems to be out (big snowstorm) and I’m at a loss.
