Fed contractor here, no prior military. Married, no kids, both in 30’s. Annual income at 80K/year. Southern California. Wife hasn’t been able to find work since graduating (BS Comp-Sci) a year ago, so no option to go under her would be employer.
Company is dropping healthcare benefits for us. 90% of of workers don’t care, as they’re mostly veterans with VA benefits. Leaves the few of us who don’t have VA benefits high and dry.
Current coverage is Kaiser, coverage prices below are individual based, cost is ~$325/mo:
Deductible: $500
MOOP: $3000
Co-pays: Generally $20
Co-insurance: 20%
Medications: $10
Looking for something comparable… Was looking at just purchasing the Kaiser individual plans for $1000/mo, but not sure if we want to stick around with KP any longer. Sharp PPO Platinum Performance is nice, but there’s very few locations near me that accept it.
Looked at other major companies and they’re around the same cost of $1000/mo+ for something similar to my current coverage. Not going to get COBRA. Going to also need the highest dental coverage possible, unfortunately MetLife seems to the best and only cover $2000/year, wife needs a lot of work done, so if there’s ideas on better than coverage, let me know. Looking at $12,000 in dental bills come 2022, i’ve racked up a few grand in medical bills myself as well this year, so looking for better health coverage.
Thanks.
