I paid my premium to enroll in health coverage for 2021 back in November. However, I had a change of income for 2021 a week later, and filled out a new application on GetCoveredNJ (the NJ Health marketplace) in December. To my relief, I had qualified for a monthly subsidy that amounted to about $200. However, that information hasn’t showed up on my insurance’s portal. I spent a good chunk of the month making phone calls to get this sorted out, and have reached a deadlock.
- The insurance I use says I need to contact the marketplace and get them to send the info. I told them I could send them screenshots, emails, scanned letters, etc to prove it, but they don’t have any emails.
- The NJ marketplace support agents are only trained to help fill out applications, and seem baffled when I tell them none of the info was sent forward. Including a manager I got on the line who just gave a simple “huh… thats weird.” and said no one is authorized to send information out.
The best answer I received was from a live chat with my insurance, in which the guy said I should wait up to 2 weeks to see it take effect. Its been 18 days now, and things are still exactly where they were. I can’t afford to pay the full monthly premium, and need the subsidy. Anyone else dealing with this issue? Not sure what to do, given that it seems to be an automated system issue and both sides aren’t doing anything to help.
