For California/CoveredCa sub is dead…

Anyone can help with CoveredCa plans? My husband lost his benefits due to being furloughed and we can’t keep up his insurance premiums on just my income. My job doesn’t offer medical at a decent rate (I would lose one week of pay a month for the only plan they offer) and the plans I’ve found on CoveredCa had better coverages, anyway.

So even on the cheapest option they have, it would be over $800/mo for just my husband and I. Kids would be automatically covered under Medi-Cal.

I don’t qualify for state coverage under medical/Medicaid as I make over the state max for coverage just with my job. My husband is currently doing contract work and it’s definitely not steady enough for me to rely on a paycheck every week to afford normal bills let alone medical insurance payments.

Just need to know why they don’t offer a family plan for one set price and why I have to shop a plan for me and another for my husband, doubling the price.

I even went at it to just shop for a plan for him and I’ll forego a plan for myself as I’ve been to the doctor about 5 times in the last 10 years.

But it won’t let you do it that way, either
