Getting a fat bill for physical therapy?

OK, so I don’t know if this is in the right Subreddit, but if someone has a better idea where it could go and wants to direct me that would be great.

My friend works at a PT clinic as a PT assistant, I wanted to do PT and she said her biller told her with my insurance (BCBCS) it would be $40 a visit. So, I did an eval there by the head PT, then a mini session, then went back for 2 more sessions. Got a bill from them for $210, and am now finding out I will have another coming to total up $499 due to the PT clinic.

I called BCBS and they said it’s because it’s Tier 2, so my deductible is higher, which I get. And there’s nothing they can do about it. But my friend confronted the biller and said that it’s actually much more after she did the billing.

I feel violated and I feel this is not right. How can they charge me this much? Looking at the claim, they are charging about $227 a visit for an hour while billing for “therapeutic exercises” and “neuromuscular reeducation”. Aren’t they supposed to tell me about these charges prior to the visits? And isn’t it wrong she technically lied about my per visit cost? Any advice or what to do would be appreciated. I simply cannot afford this just for 3 total PT visits.
