I have a family of 5 and up to this point we have always qualified for Medicaid for the kids, and my wife and I would use either Obamacare or whatever crap my employer offered. Because florida has low cost of living and low pay, that’s worked out.
This year I have not worked steadily until now. I have another week of open enrollment from my new job. I need to determine if I should put the kids on my plan or leave them on Medicaid for the remainder of the year.
Does Florida Kidcare/CHIP/Medicaid use my current monthly income x12 to determine eligibility, or do they look at the amount of money I will earn this year like the healthcare marketplace? Since I landed this job in the middle of the year, my AGI for 2021 will still be below the income threshold for the kids to qualify. If they are still eligible for medicaid, when will they no longer be eligible?
Thank you 🙂
