Having an “elective” surgery soon, want to be sure there’s no surprise bills

As the title says. My insurance (Aetna) has declared my upcoming hemorrhoid PPH surgery elective because of course they have. (Insurance is so useless.) Anticipating this, I’ve called both my doctor and the surgery center to get quotes on the procedure and ANYTHING I will owe them. I’ve been told: $403 for the doctor, $983 for the facility, and $360 for the anesthesia. This is $1,746 total, and while still depressingly overpriced, seems reasonable (for America….) and is doable for me. I was informed ‘any biopsies or things like that that the doctor feels is necessary mid-surgery may incur a lab fee’ which is also fine, provided it’s not several hundred dollars as well.

I’m just very suspicious. I’m healthy and have basically never needed healthcare before. I’m scared a few months will go by, and I’ll get slapped with an unexpected several thousand dollar bill out of nowhere. Am I….. am I missing something here?
