Health Insurance Collecting Premiums but Saying I Am Not Covered

Hello,

I bought health insurance direct through the provider because my employer doesn’t offer it.

I’ve been paying all of my premiums on time, via autopay, and every paper bill I have says I am in good standing. However, when I log onto my online portal it says I am inactive on every page EXCEPT the billing page, where it says I am in good standing as well.

I’ve tried submitting claims (one for a COVID shot, another for a Flu shot), and got denied both times for “not having coverage”. I called the health insurance company and they said I have coverage and to just resubmit the claims, but the doctors office says I don’t have coverage and when trying to search my my coverage says they can’t find anything and I am not insured.

I got a $150 bill for the flu shot today and I’m really frustrated. I’m young (31) and healthy (no other claims with this company, no HI claims outside of primary care visits in 10 years) and shouldn’t have to pay $150 for a flu shot when I’ve paid ~$1,500 in premiums this year only to be denied coverage.

What recourse do I have?

I either want all ambiguity about my coverage to go away and have my flu shot covered, OR I would like a refund of all my premiums and I’ll go haggle down the price of the shot and pay it out of pocket. I’ve thought about escalting to the insurance buereau of Colorado but don’t know if I’m signing up for more headache than I am bargaining for. Option three is just cut bait and be okay with the sunk cost. But on principle I will have a hard time paying so much to receive nothing.

I do “business” with Bright Health of Colorado.

Any tips are very appreciated. Thanks!
