My husband’s company recently switched insurance policies and I was not added to his insurance policy. I believe this may be because I chose to keep my maiden name after we married. We provided a copy of our marriage certificate to verify that we were married since I kept my maiden name. In order to get on his policy, do I need to have a qualifying event or do I simply contact customer service? Do we go through his employer to fix this?
For further information, we married February of 2020. I was on his prior plan with United Healthcare, but his company switched to Cigna. I am 33 years old, we live in Indiana. My husband is 29. Thank you for any information you may have, am running low on my ADHD medicine and need this to be taken care of as quickly as possible.
