I know the signup deadline is tomorrow for healthcare.gov so asking here before it hits.
I’m originally from chicago, but moved to last year. After moving to ca, I got health insurance via BlueCross California (signed up on coveredca website). Doctors found a blood clot in my knee (don’t worry, it can’t get dislodged and I’m safe) and I need to get surgery, however I want to do it in chicago so that my family can take care of me while I heal. Unfortunately, BlueCross California won’t cover me getting surgery in IL. They only cover medical emergencies.
For 2021, I want to get a health plan that will let me visit doctors in CA but also cover a surgery in chicago.
What’s my best bet here? Do I call Blue cross? Do I go through coveredca and get insurance for California and then get another plan via healthcare.gov for IL?
Thanks!
