Basically I am leaving my w2 job and taking a 1099 position at a startup.
Being it’s a smaller company, I am losing my company health insurance.
Few questions:
1) Is Pennie Marketplace my best option? I see it as a brokerage type site but I am not sure if they upcharge to make it easy for people
2) If the above is no, what companies do I get in contact with?
3) What is the best plan for a young 20’s relatively healthy person? HMO, PPO, EPO?
4) What about the metal tiers? I was planning on getting lower monthly cost and higher deductible, something like a bronze HMO?
5) I am looking to put my 2 weeks in today. But Pennie says health insurance cannot begin until January 2022. How can I get insurance for December of this year? Do I have to remain at my current job? Or pray nothing happens? According to Pennie if I was fired I would be covered but not if I voluntarily leave.
Should I just not put my 2 weeks in and until they fire me lol (slightly kidding, is it my best option??)
Thanks!!!
