Hello,
I am trying to apply for Health Insurance through Marketplace. At the moment I am a self-employed student (M 29) living at home (FL) with my mom. I earn roughly $1000 a month which still puts me in the Medicaid Gap. However, I noticed that when you apply you can enter something called cash support income. If my mom is currently the one paying rent and bills without charging me any rent or bills, can I claim that amount as cash support from her to make me eligible for Marketplace plans?
When I just enter my self-employed income the premiums available to me are extraordinarily high. However, when I enter the estimate of how much my mom spends on average “supporting” me by not charging me rent or utilities then I qualify for a very low-cost premium. Is this indirect help from my mom something I can use in that “cash support income”?
