Help! Advice regarding out-of-state care with EmblemHealth (HIP Prime HMO)?

So I have insurance through my employer, a nonprofit organization in a major city that was highly impacted by COVID. I left that city in April when things got really bad and my office shut down.

It is in my best interest to continue to work from my hometown – my office is still closed, and COVID cases are beginning to increase again in the city.

However, since I have been in my hometown, I have needed certain basic services. I had a Pap smear for the first time in 2 years, for example. This isn’t something I could do virtually. The problem is, no providers in my area (or STATE for that matter) are covered by my insurance.

So I am having to pay out of pocket for this necessary service, nearly $300 for the routine OB/GYN exam.

Will I just have to eat these costs and neglect my health until I can get back to the ONE city where it seems I am eligible for healthcare? Any advice would be MUCH appreciated!
