Hospital hasn’t responded to insurance for medical records

A few basic facts:

-This is in Texas.

-My plan is $0 deductible, $5k out of pocket.

-The surgery (endoscopic sinus surgery) was pre-authorized.

I received a letter a week ago from my insurance company stating that the hospital where I received surgery hasn’t responded to a request for medical records and that the claim will be denied if they haven’t responded within 45 days. My surgery was in excess of $100k so naturally this would be pretty awful. The letter also stated no action is needed by me at this time.

I’ve called both the insurance company and hospital and haven’t received a clear answer. The insurance company claims they haven’t received their request for medical records. The hospital says they haven’t received a request from the insurance company.

It’s been about a month since my surgery and it seems like the billing isn’t resolved. Should I be worried? Is there anything I should do? Is this normal for a large bill?
