How can the pharmacy charge me more than my generic co-pay for a covered drug?

I have an Open Marketplace plan that offers a $0 co-pay for generic brands. I normally go through Kroger and have no problem but decided to use the local Publix because we are there more frequently. Unfortunately, they proved to be a nightmare.

After three days of waiting for my prescription to be filled, they called and said it would be a nearly $200 co-pay for a generic med. They confirmed that yes, the medication is generic, and yes, it is covered–that my insurance plan brought it down from $1,200 to $200, but that doesn’t make sense.

Are they just clueless at Publix?
