I currently got out of uni because of my anxiety/stress and my aunt suggested asking my insurance to recommend me some counselors in my area. My parents aren’t really into the idea of therapy but I’m going to find some counselors regardless since I’m an adult anyway. The problem is I don’t know what to say exactly over the phone instead of just saying “ Hi I want therapy can you recommend me some counselors!” I don’t know the important questions to ask since I’m new to calling the insurance company.
I’ve actually called 2 months ago and they send me some counselors in a private email format through the insurance website but when I tried to look for it today (yes I’m aware I looked at it super late I pushed off therapy for too long because of my parents) and the email was nonexistent? I also called before when I was still on campus but it was for my campus area. I feel embarrassed calling a 3rd time in the past 2 months.
TLDR: how do I ask my insurance about mental health coverage and counselors in my area?
