I’ve recently turned 18 and have diagnosed depression, anxiety, and PTSD and want to explore the possibility of medication, but my parents are very anti-mental healthcare (took them 7 years to take me to a therapist despite the instructions of my school to do so). I’m a college student who is away from home during the school year, but I’m still on my parent’s health insurance. How do I go about seeing a doctor or psychiatrist to consider the possibility of medication with out my parent’s finding out?
(also disclaimer: I know medication is not a quick fix and I’ve been trying as hard as I can to maintain a healthy lifestyle and to naturally manage my mental health. I just want to talk with a professional and see if it could possibly help my quality of life.)
