I’m 24 and this is the first year I’ve gotten my own health insurance. I got it through a marketplace and was eligible for an insane mark down in the monthly price ($800 a month plan for $2 a month) which I didn’t realise was only because I’d been on pandemic unemployment last year. I realised in late December that this coverage would end come 2022 so I called the marketplace I signed up through a cancelled the plan. January 5th rolls around and I get an $800 bill on my credit card anyway which I cannot afford. I called the marketplace again and they confirmed my plan had been cancelled and no longer exists. They told me the only way to get a refund is through kaiser directly but I can find almost no information about it or a way to file for online. I’ve waited on hold to kaiser for over an hour two days in a row and have been disconnected both times. I’m starting to panic and just wondering if anyone has any advice or experience with this. I don’t have any other adults I can go to for advice so I feel like I’m drowning.
Tl;dr I cancelled my kaiser plan last month but they charged me anyway, struggling to get a refund and looking for advice
