I (25F) will be removed from my dads insurance at the end of the month. Any insight on what to do?

Hi all, I (25F) live in New York. I recently graduated from college with my B.S. in Criminal Justice and Psychology. Shortly after I graduated, COVID hit. To say the least, it has been terribly difficult trying to find a job. I’ve applied to numerous places since the beginning of March, yet none have had the decency to send a letter stating they’ve received my application, but aren’t interested. Or whatever the case may be. I know this is a crazy time for everyone, so I’m trying not to let this hopeless feeling take over me. I do, at the very least, have a part time job that I’ve worked for 3 1/2 years, so I’m thankful for that. But I only make $17.50 an hour with no benefits; so it’s not really all that great in terms of keeping me afloat.

With this being said- I’ve received a letter stating that at the end of December, I’ll be removed from my Fathers insurance since I’m turning 26. I have no idea where to go from here. I just found out about the marketplace because I asked my Primary care for some guidance. I skimmed on there and there’s nothing I’d realistically be able to afford. I’ve also recently found out about Medicaid, but I’m afraid my household income is too high to receive temporary help. I do still live at home and I claim as an independent. So I’m not sure if this would change anything? I believe the letter from my fathers insurance company did also state if I’m claimed as a dependent, I could stay on his insurance until I’m 30 under some type of law they passed. I feel like I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place. I don’t want to put the burden on my parents because I want to be independent. I’m ready in every sense of the word, except financially.

It’s not very often that I get sick or go to the doctor/hospital for anything life threatening. I don’t have any physical ailments. At the most, I’m interested in a plan that includes mental health coverage. Any insight on what plans to look into whether it be on the marketplace or elsewhere? should I give Medicaid a go anyway?

Any information is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks so much in advance!
