Hi, I am a bit confused. (Was also unsure about the flair, sorry if that’s not right…) I am a young adult and don’t really know how to navigate health insurance stuff. My parents suggested I get state provided health care while I was unemployed, so I did, and barely used it. I made 2 appointments- one doctor and one dentist appointment- a few months ago that were pushed back to November because of lack of openings. But then, a job opportunity suddenly came up and I got a new job at the very end of September.
But I only just realized that I still have my state provided insurance, because I will be changing to my company’s insurance. I was told to wait 2 – 3 weeks before I am able to get insurance through work again.
How do I take care of my state insurance? Do I need to notify them that I am employed now, or will it be cancelled automatically when I switch plans? Will one of the plans cover my appointments coming up if I am between plans at the time? I won’t get an insurance card from my company for a few weeks after I sign up but I need to go to these appointments as I’ve been waiting for months, so I’m not sure what to do next, any help is appreciated!
