How do I communicate this problem I have with Medicare and Medicaid? Basically, every time I go to the clinic for a vaginal problem which is often, they do a pap smear. I only recently started getting pap smears because of my age – I’ve not had sexual intercourse. The person who does the pap smear is titled as a Nurse Practitioner. The pap smears are really painful, there’s usually a lot of blood, they look into my vagina with it even though I’m not sure how they could see something looking through the “speculum” (there’s no camera on it and I imagine there’s not enough light to see up inside the vaginato be effective).
Anyways, I usually have more blood loss then I expected, the procedure is really painful (clamping and twisting the instrument to gather a tissue sample).
Previously, they would just do a pelvic exam for the things I have possibly going on down there (sensation of a tilted cervix, “waxy feeling” cervix, bleeding in an unusual area up there, tissue change in an area up there, yeast infection, gardnerella, feeling/sensation that I’m having sexual intercourse even though I’m not doing anything.
They request a pap smear even though I am often still sore from the last one…
How do I get them to stop doing that? Do I need to get an order for them to not do that (as often, at least)?
I have a lot of pain inside of there often now because they must be overdoing the pap smear.
