I have two health insurances, what do I do?

I’m in an interesting predicament that I’m not sure how to best approach.

To give some background, I am 23 years old and male, and while I am young, I do not have the best health at the moment, I was involved in a skiing accident that fractured my spine and has left lasting effects that I am currently working to resolve, and thus my medical expenses aren’t as low as one might expect at my age.

I have an Aetna health insurance from my father (he claims me as a dependent), which is generally pretty good and has very good coverage of medical expenses.

I also have a BlueCross BlueShield HDHP health insurance from my employer, which doesn’t cover quite as much and pays less than the Aetna one.

I have had the BlueCross BlueShield insurance as my primary since I started employment (8 months ago), and have the Aetna one listed as my secondary insurance. It doesn’t seem like the most logical to have two health insurances, but I also want to make the decision that saves me the most money from my rather hefty medical expenses.

If my medical expenses were low, I would just remove the Aetna one and the HDHP plan would make sense for someone like me, but they are not. But does having both listed even make sense? What do I do?
