I make too much money to qualify for state health insurance, but not enough to afford private insurance.

I make $50k a year so we do not qualify for state health insurance in Minnesota. (MNsure). The income cap for a family of three is $43k

My husband is unemployed and can’t work. He’s applying for disability, but that could take years for approval. He has a serious issue with his immune system and has been in and out of the hospital for the last 5 years. Doctors want to start him on IVIG infusions. We can not afford private insurance and the copays that would go along with this expensive treatment, but we make too much money to qualify for MNsure. We’re making just enough to make ends meet considering rent, groceries, and gas prices are skyrocketing.

Is there any help for people like us? People that make just a little too much for state health insurance, but not enough to pay for private insurance? Do I have no choice but to quit my job and find a lower paying one?
