Is Covered California free? About 3 years ago I had Covered CA and I don’t remember paying for it. A year ago I got a job at a hospital and had health insurance through them that I guess was deducted from my paycheck. I have since left that job and am trying to get Covered CA again. But now it seems like I have to pay for it. I don’t get it, did something change this time around? I make roughly the same amount I did when I didn’t have to pay for it.
Sorry if this is a simple answer, I just don’t understand how health insurance, Medi Cal, or Covered California works and why this is always so difficult.
