I paid for a prescription with a policy I thought had canceled when I meant to use Goodrx. What should I do?

I’m in PA and had a policy with Independence Blue Cross through the marketplace. I got a new job in December and my employer health insurance kicked in on January 7th. Throughout December I kept getting emails from IBX about enrolling coverage for the new year and mailings from the state about how I would have to use Pennie instead of the marketplace for 2021. I figured if I didn’t do anything, my coverage wouldn’t renew.

In the week between coverages, I needed to pick up a maintenance medication, and I have a Goodrx coupon on file for it at my pharmacy, so I figured I just use that. The difference between the copay from IBX and the Goodrx price for this prescription is negligible and I paid for a few other things at the pharmacy window, so I didn’t realize it was getting claimed to IBX instead of using my Goodrx coupon.

I really don’t want to pay the IBX premium for January ($400) or the full cost of my prescription ($430). What do you think I should do? Will IBX retroactively deny me if I let the plan cancel for non-payment?
