I used the app my insurance provided me to find an “in network” dentist but after receiving treatment from the dentist my insurance is telling me they are “out of network.” What should I do?

Just like my title says. I went to a dentist that is recommended by my insurance. In the app that my insurance provides it says that the dentist is in network. I went to them over a month ago and now I am receiving claims that says I owe $1500. The claim also says that this dentist is out of network. I just checked and the app still says they are in network. I called them two weeks ago to have them fix this they just sent me a new claim that still says the doctor is out of network and I owe $1500.

What should I do now?

Is this common?

How do I prevent this from happening in the future?
