I’m in a pinch

Hey, sorry this is so long and complicated but I have no other options. Basically I’m 22 years old, live in Nevada, and a few months ago I suffered a major allergic reaction and had an anaphylactic episode accompanied by hives and swelling. I know my body pretty well and I have never been close to death in any of my allergic reactions, and I know that these episodes cease after a few hours. My parents basically told me that if I didnt go to the hospital that they would call an ambulance and have me escorted there, threatening me in order to make me go. I get that they only wanted to make sure I stay alive but I feel it it was unwarranted, especially since I’ve only ever been to the hospital once before out of the countless times I’ve experienced a reaction. I am UNINSURED.

My mom drove me to what I believe is a private catholic hospital (Saint Rose Dominican) because she said they would offer financial assistance in paying my bill. Only issue is, I was charged nearly 8500 dollars for my stay. This is NOT something I can afford at all. Of course I can’t hold her responsible for my bill because I was admitted willingly and I’m an adult. I can’t imagine any health institution giving me a workable discount on something so expensive.

I work a minimum wage job, I’m enrolled in community college, and I live with my parents. I make somewhere between 22 and 25,000 dollars a year, most of which goes to my schooling expenses including my vehicle which I also use for work. I’ve applied for coverage on Nevada’s state run health insurance marketplace and haven’t heard a response back from them yet as to whether or not I was accepted.

I’m just trying to figure out what to do? I’ve been able to slide by in life so far without accumulating any debt other than my car loan, I don’t get any financial assistance from my family other than a place to stay while getting through college. Everyone in my house has total coverage under government run health plans (Medicare/Medicaid/CHIP) and I used to be covered as well, but according to my dad I aged out of the program and I’m not eligible for insurance with them. I thought the Affordable Care Act said that I was eligible to be under their insurance until I turned 26, but maybe that doesn’t apply to Medicare/caid/CHIP?

I just really need to find a way to erase, or at least knock down my bill as much and as soon as possible. I really can’t afford to have huge medical bill like this hanging around on my credit score for 7 years.

Any help is appreciated. This is seriously putting me in a state of stress and panic. I dont know what to do.
