I’m on medi-cal for low income people in California. I’ve heard that you now can’t be booted off because of the public health crisis. I have a question about that:

I live in California, and I have a lot of health issues. This sounds very bad, but I purposely choose to work part time for I stay under the monthly income limit for I can receive ongoing treatments.

Judge me all you want, but the benefit cliff is an awful thing.

I’ve just been offered a full time position that does not offer health insurance. I want to take it.

My questions:

1) My medi-cal application is going to renew in a few months. Will it still renew if I’m now making way over the monthly limit? Or will I then get booted off during the renewal process?

2) Does anyone have any idea of how long they’re going to waive the income limit?

My biggest fear is I’ll be making above the limit, and I’ll get a letter in the mail telling to me to repay back all of the medical bills. This happened to a friend of mine a few years back, and it was a total legal shitshow.

Please let me know
