In-network doctor sent labs out of network

Long story short, just out of school and moved back to Los Angeles, I Was referred to a PC/IM after an initial prognosis. I have Oscar, platinum 90 Select EPO via Covered California, and the clinic is in-network, and my labs are covered if I use Quest; if not, it’s 100% my responsibility.

I went to see the doctor, where they drew blood the same day, gave me a prescription, and set up a telemedicine follow-up; after that, the dr gave me an e-lab slip for Quest to see how the meds are working. So I thought given the follow-up lab request went directly to Quest electronically, they knew where all my labs should go.

Went to check my claimes the other day, the clinic was approved, but the labs were not because they sent them to Labcorp; I never thought to ask where the labs are going to be sent because I never had this problem with labs drawn in-office before. The EOB is saying the total charge is in the $5000s. Had I known this would happen, I definitely would have gone to Quest immediately instead or made sure it was sent there.

What recourse do I have to try and get the bill reduced or approved?
