In network/out of network shuffling

I got pcp authorization for a sleep study. The doctor I’d like is out of network but he said he can bill it with another doctor (not sure of the deal here…) who’s in-network. This way I’ll have a minimal copay instead of God knows what.

Should this be a concern of mine? No sure if this is on the up&up but that’s between doctor and insurance, is this correct?
