Is Lipoma a pre-existing condition?

I have international medical insurance that doesn’t cover pre-existing conditions.

I’ve had a lipoma (benign fatty deposit lump) for a few years. In the last month it grew fast causing ache and restricting my movement. My doctor, in Thailand, says I must remove it. An MRI scan to check for cancerous growth is needed.

My US insurance company will only deal with claims, and will not pre-asses a condition. This means that they wont give me an indication as to wether this is covered by my insurance until after I have paid! This is annoying since an operation is likely to be many thousands of dollars and i’d like to know it’s covered before I continue.

Is there any way I can figure out wether they will consider this a pre-existing condition or not?

Thanks for your help!
