Is there a grace period for someone when they turn 26?

My fiance turns 26 on Thursday. She is very nervous about switching over to United Health Care. I have a couple questions about this transition I am trying to find out for her:

Does her health care with her current provider (BCBS) expire exactly on her birthday. Or is there a 30 – 60 day grace period?

Does anyone here have any experience with United Health Care? From what I’ve read, they seem like a decent company as far as insurance providers go. I mean not great, but doable. Rated the same by consumers as who I use (Cigna). I have not seen the plan details, so I don’t know all the specifics. I think the anxiety is keeping her from looking at it, which is understandable. She mentioned that there seems to only be one option and it is a coinsurance only option. I haven’t actually read through it, so I’m not sure how bad it is. Does anyone know anything about United Health Care? Is there a way we can pay more to get better coverage through them? She has medications that she is trying to keep covered.

Thanks in advanced!
