My workplace is offering a switch to Blue Care Network HMO from BCBSM PPO.
The HMO plan is slightly more attractive with a lower annual deductable and more services covered at 100% after the deductable (vs 80% with the PPO.)
The HMO has a slightly higher max out of pocket.
I’m a bit concerned with how the HMO may delay or prevent getting mental health help. While my PCP and psychiatrist are in network, I’ve never had to deal with referrals.
Going the HMO could save me $1000 or more a year.
Is there somewhere where I can see reviews of each plan and what others think of them? What’s the best way to determine which is the better?
