Living overseas for half the year. Does my plan make sense?

Hello. I recently moved from Florida to Colombia. I am expecting to live here until late June. I have travel insurance that includes $100k of emergency medical coverage, and for non-emergency stuff I expect that I will be able to just pay out-of pocket here in Colombia. Colombia has quite good healthcare and of course it is going to be a tiny fraction of the cost of the sick and twisted system in the US.

I have a Healthcare.gov marketplace plan with Florida Blue. It costs something like $350/mo. and is completely worthless here. It doesn’t make sense to keep paying for it and I would like to cancel it. This means I will have no insurance in the US. If god forbid I have a medical emergency here in Colombia, my plan is to get all of my treatment here and cover it with my travel insurance.

When I move back to the US it will most likely not be to Florida. I believe this means that I will qualify for special enrollment at that time and will be able to re-enter the marketplace for the second half of the year.

Does this plan make sense? Am I misunderstanding something? Do I need to keep paying for my useless Florida Blue plan? Are there some other steps I should take before I cancel that plan?

Thanks so much for your help. Navigating this system is a nightmare and expert advice is a godsend.
