Made a mistake on my dependent eligibility verification audit – NEED ADVICE BADLY

Hey reddit/r/healthinsurance,

I started a new job for a big fortune 500 corporation in December. During the dependent eligibility verification audit, I submitted documents, but did not realize they did not pass the audit.

As a result, my wife is getting kicked off her insurance, and my company is saying they cannot do a new audit because it wouldn’t be compliant. Obviously, we are devastated.

More details:

– I started remotely, for a company who was just acquired by this big corporation.

– We have a million systems, softwares, a VPN, and I have emails for both companies. Makes it really difficult to keep track of how to access everything, and myself and many colleagues often have access issues, that IT confirms aren’t user error. (messy acquisition)

– My wife was shown as insured for 1.1.21 – 2.28.21. She was getting services with the insurance and we have invoices to prove it. The HRIS also showed her as insured during that time. I only noticed when I checked my payroll and noticed when she was removed.

– My entire team (of the company that was acquired by the big company) has had a terrible experience with the corporate HR team, and the contact.

– No one reached out to me to say that I wasn’t passing the audit. I did get notifications, but they were of the sort “HRIS message notification,” “Benefit change notification”

– I have all the documents for the dependent eligibility verification audit, ready to go, ready to submit.

– My wife electively chose to be removed from her insurance, as she was joining mine.

– No human reached out to say, you haven’t submitted the right shit, OR, she is getting removed. Just bland auto notifications.

Does anyone have any advice? Perhaps on an extension, grace period, or anything else? Thanks in advance.

TLDR: The documents I submitted to prove my spouse’s eligibility for my insurance didn’t pass, and I didn’t realize til it was too late. HR is stonewalling and my wife is now uninsured.
