I’m hoping you guys can help me out with my insurance dilemma. I’m self-employed and my wife’s employer doesn’t provide health insurance. We are expecting our first child in March, and I’m trying to decide between Silver or Gold coverage from the marketplace. The main differences between the two plans are cost, deductible, and out of pocket max. We’re in Indiana.
Silver: $823/month
Deductible: $5,800 Individual total – $11,600 Family Total
Out of Pocket: $7,900 Individual total – $15,800 Family Total
Gold: $1,211/month
Deductible: $2,000 Individual total – $4,000 Family Total
Out of Pocket: $6,500 Individual total – $13,000 Family Total
Any thoughts on which plan might be best in the long run? Everything is looking good with the pregnancy so far, but I know the doctor/hospital visits are going to add up quickly. Thank you!
