So marketplace insurance made a gigantic mistake. I need help.
Back story is that I recently was able to get insurance through my job and coverage started may 1st. I had marketplace insurance before I was able to switch to my employer’s insurance, and I was on my own plan. The previous 2-3 years I had marketplace but was on my mom’s plan.
Well May 1st came so naturally I called to cancel my marketplace plan since my work insurance kicked in. The guy asked for my social and dob and everything that would be on my plan. And all was seemingly well and he cancelled my plan….
Come to find out he did not cancel my plan…..and instead he managed to cancel my mom’s plan!!!!! So we found this out may 7th and have been working to get her plan reinstated since. We have talked to the insurance company and marketplace both. A Marketplace supervisor wrote a report but basically they are saying there is nothing we can do in the meantime to get her insurance reinstated quicker… she’s already paid for the month… they do not care at all.
The guy who did this was not only careless but he broke hipaa…I am not even allowed to talk to the marketplace rep about my mom’s plan without her present so please tell me how the hell I was able to cancel it…
Please give me any and all advice on how to get my mom’s insurance reinstated without having to pay for an attorney. I feel so bad for her and I’m worried about her going without insurance. Marketplace said it may take up to 30 days to reinstate the plan even though it was their fault and she’s paid for the month…help!
