Marketplace + Texas CHIP?

In 2019 I was employed and had BCBS for healthcare for myself, wife, and minor son. My wife is also disabled and gets SSI and is covered by Medicare. We’re all in TX.

I lost my job in August but COBRAed til 12/31/20. During Open Enrollment I tried to go through the Marketplace. My current income is unemployment + a little 1099 side hustle, which I declared.

I got coverage (and have since paid) but I also took a subsidy. I expect employment (eg. income) + private coverage (but maybe not) sometime in Q2. While I got coverage they wanted to kick my son to Texas CHIP. I don’t really want him to get on CHIP and would rather he get on my insurance, as I expect my income to increase and coverage to change.

I also filled out a TX CHIP application for him (but just today, 12/29/20), as I don’t want him to miss coverage.

Is there any way get him on my marketplace coverage and I guess refuse TX Chip? Or am I being silly in not wanting to get involved with that program?

PS: Wife can’t get coverage via marketplace because of existing Medicare so she’s back on Medicare for everything.
