Hello all,
My spouse received a letter dated 4/30/21 stating he and child were granted medicaid coverage with benefit begin date of 12/01/2020. Spouse and I were married end of February 2021 and used it as a qualifying event to put them on my employer health plan because they really needed coverage.
So it’s mid-May, I’m drowing in insurance bills because I miscalculated how much it would cost me to add them to my insurance.
We wouldn’t have gotten desperate enough to add them to my insurance if we had known they had coverage!
What can we do? HR at my job said we have to wait until open enrollment to drop them….which translates to me needing to find a new job because we can’t survive paying these rates.
Thanks in advance for any ideas! I hate job hunting.
