Does it always affect credit if med bills goto a collector ? I’ve always had good credit and paid my bills on time but we got hit hard having twins that stayed in nicu across 2020 into 2021. Trying to negotiate with doctors billing company best they’re offering is 30% even though a few months back they gave us a 40% discount for the other baby. Wondering if I might be able to negotiate more once it went to a debt collector or if it’s not worth damaging my credit.
