Hi
I made a post about how my medical provider phantom/overcharged for $10K for preventive routine visit. and there are same patterns and victims in their review.
I followed you guy’s recommendation but it doesn’t look like it’s going to sort out by talk with the clinic . I’m also talking to authorities on the side but it’s very slow.
Anyways, so medical provider wants me to
send over $2K check issued by my insurance basing on their false/overcharged claim and they say they’ll not bill me any remaining claims of the $10K and case closed. If not, they’ll move to debt collection agency with the $10K bill right now. but I never received the bill and they’re refusing to provide itemized bill They also don’t provide any proof of service rendered (e.g. medical records). These only exists in my health insurance claims.
I’d throw the $2k check at them if I can just wrap this up as it’s been really stressful and the clinic looks like they’ve been doing this long enough to know what works and what not.
I called them to give me affidavit stating once I forward the check to them they’ll waive the whatever claim outstanding, but they say they’ll send me an email confirmation that they received the check or make a note if i visit the office in person stating whatever I want (wth..) which I don’t trust, ofc.
I’m worried that once this goes into debt collection, it will be much harder to sort even if the claims false and in dispute. This will hit my credit score etc.
Can they send it to debt collection when there’s no proof of service rendered, or no bills billed to me (i guess they can bill me new one at that point but)?, and the visit was made only a couple month ago. They say they’ll close the claim once they received the insurance check (and that only), but the way i see it is they can issue the bill for the remaining portion any time they want and If I forward the check to them, it would look like that I’m in agreement with the false claims.
I see what kind of scam they’re running but it’s also kind of hard to get out (or i think it is).
i want to understand what’s the real situation here and if they’re making empty threat and how much actual complication out there etc.
Any advice or Experience sharing or laywer recommendation for consultation will be much appreciated. I heard also lawyer for these small cases don’t care much and often just want to advantage of the client’s panic so looking for a good one I can trust.
Thank you
