Hi all,
I’m an uninsured female in my mid-30s thinking about getting health insurance soon, as I have some new weird symptoms that are concerning.
I was researching insurance for a couple hours the other night, but I still feel utterly lost. This system is so incredibly convoluted.
I realize the following might make me sound kind of nuts, and that it’s unlikely, but my concern is that I might need an MRI, and then the MRI might show that I have a brain tumor, which I might need surgery for. If I had an MRI without insurance, and the MRI showed a brain tumor that needed to be surgically removed, would I be able to then get insurance before the surgery to pay for it? If I have no tumor and need no surgery, I lean toward wanting to pay the MRI costs out-of-pocket. But I can’t be paying $70k+ for a brain surgery; I’d need insurance to pay for much of that.
I hate this. I just wish it were a simpler system. Thanks for any and all advice, and please be kind.
