My gf (21) had been trying to renew her tricare coverage from her stepdad for the last 10 months. Unfortunately he isn’t the greatest person and has been holding it hostage this entire time with the secret intention to “give it to her for Christmas”. I guess his generosity got the best of him this week and he decided to revoke it.
We tried to get her insurance from healthcare.gov this summer but they required documentation from tricare showing her insurance had expired. Her stepdad would not give us the documentation so we were unable to get her insurance. She attempted to get the documentation herself but he found out and blocked it. When open enrollment came around, he got her hopes up that she was getting insurance. Now that open enrollment has passed and his generosity has expired, I’m not sure how to get her regular insurance without having to deal with this asshole.
She is a full time student at a community college with no job (I have been helping). Anything we can do to get her approved for insurance at this point?
