So it’s time to renew our plan (Mom and me as a dependent) with the market place and we are faced with two options.
Option 1 is with Bright and it is a cheaper plan (like 1/3 of the cost) with no out of network coverage but the rates are less than Option 2.
Option 2 is with BCBS (Silver with Novant), which is more expensive but it offers more coverage but the rates are higher.
Both plans get what we need to be done covered, but we’ve had a decent experience with BCBS (Gold) this year, but the lower costs with Bright is definitely attractive. The catch is, everything online about Bright is negative, in terms of reviews and BBB complaints. Would it be better to stay with a more reputed company like BCBS vs. moving to a new company that is cheaper but has a terrible track record? My instincts say to stay with BCBS.
Bright $0 Deductible Plan:
Premium: $43
Deductible: $0
Out of Pocket Max: $900 Family: $1800
BCBS Silver (Local with Novant)
Premium: $150
Deductible: $0
Out of Pocket Max: $700 Family: $1400
