Hey everyone! Thanks for helping me out with some questions I have. My father who is 68 was recently diagnosed with colorectal cancer, therefore quit his job to begin extensive treatment. He receives about $700 in SSA. He has Medicare via Humana and I signed him up for medi-cal as well due to him receiving no income now that he doesn’t have a job. The surgeon that is able to do this difficult surgery does not accept my dads plan but accepts Medi/medi so we are planning to just have original Medicare/medi-cal and have a prescription plan with some other insurance.
My question is; is this the best choice? We were thinking of going to blue shield but stated we can’t change until October and frankly my dad’s health is deteriorating and needs to be seen way sooner. We were also told that his chemo pills aren’t covered. Not sure what to do! Will be calling Medicare and medical next week but wanted to get some input and assistance from everyone to best help my father. We live in Los Angeles, CA. Thank you everyone!!! 😊
