After months of unemployment and no health insurance, my husband obtained a new job with benefits that start without a waiting period. His official start date is January 15th, however HR scheduled an orientation for him for January 26th. I know some jobs require waiting time for benefits, but this apparently does not. He’s afraid of asking too many questions, since we are so thankful to finally have this job, but typically how does it work when you start a new job…we were abroad for a while so forget how things work here. …do the benefits start the next month, or the day you start? They don’t even know about me (his spouse) yet. I’m assuming we’ll fill out tons of forms at some point.
