Hi, I’ve been in the U.S. since college but this is my first time trying to purchase my own health insurance. Until I graduated a few months ago, I was enrolled in school health insurance which had great coverage. But my new employer only has workers’ compensation insurance, which concerns me. I don’t take any medications or have any health issues, so I have never really needed to go to hospital so I feel like purchasing my own health insurance might be a great waste of money especially since American health insurances are so expensive. But I do need vision insurance for my contacts and glasses, maybe dental one as well. I would like to get braces, but I heard most insurances do not cover adult braces. Other things that I can come up with that I need insurance for are maybe counseling/therapy and women’s health. My question is, would it be necessary to get my own one in addition to the workers’ compensation insurance? Is there any option that only covers what I need and is affordable? Thank you for any tips/advice!
