Hello and thank you for reading!
I recently switched to my wife’s health insurance due to changing jobs—Blue Cross Blue Shield.
On my wife’s workplace benefit dashboard, it shows that both her and I are covered as of September 1st, 2021. We have also paid toward the plan. Moreover, we received an email from HR stating my coverage on her plan would go into effect on this date.
However, I went to have a prescription filled today, and the pharmacy could not find me on my wife’s insurance. We called BCBS, and they told me that I am not on the plan.
BCBS said that I may or may not be covered… they have no record or paperwork anywhere.
What if my wife’s HR department made a mistake? Would I be “backdated” and covered since we are paying for the plan?
I am very concerned.
